THE DELICIOUS MOMENT WHERE FLAVOUR AND SUSTAINABILITY CONVERGE
Avallen calvados is a planet-positive spirit made from just three things: apples, water and time. Love the taste, love the planet!
POSITIVE
TO THE CORE
POSITIVE TO THE CORE
Delicious, inside & out
Avallen is a crisp, floral, and completely natural calvados with no added sugar, caramel, or other nasties. It’s perfect for mixing with soda, as a refreshing spritz, in your favourite cocktail, or simply for sipping.
Buzzing About Bees
From the orchard bees that pollinate our apple trees to everyone’s beloved bumblebee, we adore all the furry little winged warriors that keep our ecosystems buzzing, which is why we donate at least 2% of our turnover annually to organisations that work to save our struggling bee populations. Learn more about our commitment to these amazing creatures here.
Climate Positive
Being climate positive is about more than reducing our footprint – it’s a commitment to create measurable environmental benefits beyond net zero emissions. The amazing apple trees that provide apples for Avallen sequester more carbon than we emit in producing Avallen each year, so every bottle we make represents a small positive step towards tackling the climate emergency.
Our Mission
It is our ambition to become the world’s most sustainable spirit from blossom to bottle, sharing the lessons we learn along the way with other producers and businesses that want to make great products without giving the planet a hangover.
Our Range
There’s only one Avallen Calvados available in three different types of packaging:

Shrill Carder Bee
Shrill carders are one of the rarest, and smallest, of all bumble bees, and they get their name from their distinctive high-pitch buzz

The Best Orchards
Every drop of Avallen begins its journey in the traditional apple orchards of Normandy, France, within 30km of the distillery.
Harvest Time
Our apples come from over 200 individual orchards, supporting the local community and biodiversity of the region.
Apple Processing
The apples are delivered, washed, chopped, juiced, and left to ferment outside for a completely natural wild fermentation.
Distilling & Aging
Distillation happens on a column still before our precious liquid is transferred to French oak casks for 2-3 years. It is then carefully blended, finally becoming our delicious calvados.
Packaging
Avallen is bottled by our lovely worker bees and packed into unbleached boxes, ready to be shipped around the world and enjoyed.
Honey Bee
The western honey bee was one of the first domesticated insects, and with human assistance, now occupies every continent except Antartica.

POSITIVE TO
THE CORE
We created Avallen with the belief that business can work in harmony with nature rather than against it and incorporate the lens of sustainability into every decision we make in the business, from who we bank with to what paper we print our event menus on.
DOING IT FOR
THE BEES
Wild bee populations are in decline around the world, and if they disappear, our very survival as a species will be at risk.
Without our furry little winged warriors, there’s no coffee. You can forget about pizza, and say goodbye to avocado on toast for breakfast. There would be no lemonade, no fries or potato chips. No berries, chillies, cucumbers, and, most importantly for us, no apples.
And it’s not just the honey bee. We’re passionate about the bee’s that no one knows about, from the leafcutter bee to Wallace’s giant bee.
FROM BLOSSOM

Transparency and traceability are important words in any industry and they’re especially important when you’re putting something in your mouth. We work with pioneering transparency company Provenance to provide full traceability and evidence for the claims we make as a company.
WE TRY TO
BEE MORE
We be(e)lieve that companies should be a force for good in the world so we try to bee more through sharing knowledge, inspiring others, and using our platform to champion positive change. We want to be the drink of choice for those fighting for our planet and all the beauty upon it.
STEPH & TIM
Take one part France, one part Colombia and one part England, shake and strain and you get Stephanie Jordan, Avallen’s queen bee
Hailing from the golden beaches of Cornwall, a region that shares a long connection with Normandy, Tim Etherington-Judge has had an extremely successful career in drinks.
Leafcutter Bee
Leafcutter bees chew leaves or petals into fragments to build their nests, hence their common name. This is one of the largest genera of bees, with almost 1500 species
